Support your respiratory health with these eight pointers.
Cough, Cough, Cough. Ah, the sound of the season. You’re riding the bus or subway. You’re in a meeting. You’re on a blind date. Someone stifles a cough. You want to head for the door. “What can I do to give my respiratory system a fighting chance,” you ask?
-
Eat your vegetables and fruits. The more colorful the better. Think blueberries, red bell peppers, tomatoes and spinach. The more color in your meal, the better the health benefits.
-
Eat fatty fish. All those omega-3 fatty acids wrapped in a tasty protein, including salmon, tuna and herring.
-
Stay three feet away. It’s been reported that if you are in the same room with someone who is coughing, stay at least three feet away from them. (You might also pass honey lozenges around the room to stave off sympathy coughing).
-
Stop smoking. This is something you know, but what you might not know is that smoking depletes your body of vitamin C. Another reason to quit.
-
Consume vitamin C. It works in the respiratory system by protecting your airways against a variety of irritants, including pollen and cigarette smoke.
-
Add vitamin B6 into the mix. Our bodies require B6 so dozens of different enzymes can function normally. Some of these enzymes impact your respiratory system.
-
Get to sleep. This is a fundamental pillar of good health. Feel a bit fatigued? Under the weather? Go to bed and get some rest.
- Use herbal formulations. Osha supports respiratory health. Elecampane supports lung health. You will find these and other supportive herbs in Rocky Mountain Throat Syrup™, Respiratonic® and Lung Tonic™.
